Glioblastoma (GBM) Facts

  •   Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common, complex, treatment resistant, and deadliest type of brain cancer.

  • There are more than 130 different types of brain tumors. Glioblastoma accounts for 15% of all primary brain tumors and 47% of all malignant brain tumors (brain cancer).

  • Approximately 12,390 estimated new cases of Glioblastoma were diagnosed last year.

  • The five-year survival rate for a Glioblastoma is a dismal 5.5%. 

  • The median survival rate for someone diagnosed with a Glioblastoma is 12-19 months.  

  • The exact cause of a Glioblastoma is not known.

  • No major advances have been made in Glioblastoma survival rates in nearly four decades.
